| Hyundai Motors to launch i30 in India |

Korean car major Hyundai Motor Company is planning to launch its Hyundai i30 model in India, while it is also looking at launching a new model that will be positioned between its existing sedan models, Verna and Sonata. The company is also mulling of exporting its newly launched compact car "Hyundai i10", which is being manufactured in India, to 75 countries.
Hyundai i30 is a 'C' segment hatchback car and is the latest entrant to the company's 'i' series of small cars, like the i10. The i30, which was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show in Chiba, is being rolled out mainly for sales in European countries.
The company intends to launch i30 to replicate its success with the Santro and both the cars, the sedan and i30, would be launched in India by 2009, according to Hyundai Motor Company senior executive vice president Jae Won Lee.
The Korean passenger car major might also bring in its entire 'i' series cars to India, including the i10, i20, i30, i40 and i50.
The i30 is a C-segment hatchback and along with i10 will spawn a series of new naming scheme with models bearing the 'I' prefix. Hyundai plans to launch an entire series of models starting with i10, i20, i30, i40 and i50.
Meanwhile, the company is also looking at exporting its India-made compact car 'i10' to 75 countries. The export of the cars would commence from next year, M Inderjith, vice-president (productions) of Hyundai Motor India said.
i10 was recently launched in New Delhi, making the India the debut country for the model. India would be the sole production and export hub of the car.
Continuing its tradition of being the fastest growing passenger car manufacturer, the overseas sales of Hyundai cars have grown by 17.4 per cent, with export of 113,339 units in 2006.
The company is setting up its second plant near Chennai, which will produce an additional
3-lakh units per annum raising its total production capacity of six lakh per annum by the
end of 2008.
